Fundamental analysis of stocks is an important part of an investor's life, but what if a platform provided a list of stocks, derived from applying famous investment models. Sounds too unrealistic, right? but there is a platform called 'Investello' that does offer a similar feature.
Investello is an Indian fundamental analytics, and stock screening platform, created by Abax Technologies Pvt. Ltd that provides ‘value investing’ analysis as well as multiple useful tools to investors. The platform is slightly different from traditional fundamental analysis platforms. Investello provides you with a filtered stock list that is derived from famous investment strategies like Benjamin Gram’s ‘Value Investing’ models.
By using this platform you can get the stocks that are undervalued or are trading below their intrinsic values. There are many automated valuation models within the platform that you can use to get the best suitable results. Let's now look at some of the features and benefits that the platform provides.
Investello offers four main features on the platform, they are providing Investment strategies, based on different investing models, A powerful stock Screener to filter and find out the perfect stocks to invest in, a ‘Fundamental Analysis’ tool that helps you to analyse the fundamentals of more than 4250 listed companies and a ‘Stock Comparing’ feature.
Let's understand each of them in detail:
Starting with the first feature of the platform, Fundamental Analysis. Under this feature, you can analyze more than 4300 companies with various parameters. There are some unique features like the ‘Price Vs Book value’, along with that you get the key metrics such as EPS, PE Ratio, Dividend Yield, Book Value, and much more.
You will also get the performance values like Average Net Profit Margin, Average Return on Equity, Revenue Growth, Profit Growth a time frame of 1 year, 3 years, and up to a 10-year time frame.
You also get a Pros and Cons list under which you can get a comprehensive briefing about the strengths and threats of the company.
For advanced analysis, you can also access Growth charts like revenue growth graphs, Safety ratios like the Debt to Equity charts, Current Ratio, Interest Coverage Ratio, along with Valuation graphs, and Quarterly Results analysis graphs. All the major data is plotted in a graphical format in the platform for better understanding.
This feature is a unique feature, exclusive to the platform. Investello has 4 investment modes which automatically scan the Indian stock market and find the suitable stocks that are applicable under each head. Let's look at some of the options available here.
1) Safe & High Growth Potential Stocks
Under this. You will get a list of companies that are safe to invest in, considering a time frame of more than 5 years. These companies have a consistent track record of good profits and healthy cash flows and do not have much debt on them.
2) Very High-Quality Business
The second type of model includes all the companies which have a strong economic moat associated with their business. Due to this, they attract high margins and great performance. This set of stocks might trade at a premium to their valuation but can still provide good returns over a 10-year time frame.
3) Promising Blue Chips
This set of companies are the top performers in their segment have provided good growth in the last 5 to 10 years. These stocks also have the capability to give good returns in the future, when comparing to their peers.
4) High Dividend Yield Stocks
For dividend lovers, there is a separate investment strategy finder that scans for the top high-quality dividend-paying stocks that have a strong track record of paying good dividends in the past.
Now coming to the third feature of the platform which is the ‘Screener’. The Screener is an essential feature for a fundamental analysis platform. Here you get a pre-defined set of tools using which you can screen for stocks. Although the provided list is not very elaborate, you can still find all the required stocks using them.
The downside to the Screener provided in the platform is that you cannot customize the fields or add new fields to run your screener. You have to limit your screening to a specified set of screeners and also a limited set of parameters.
The fourth feature of Investello is the ‘Compare Stocks’ feature under which you can compare up to four stocks side-by-side to pick the best stock for investment.
This feature lets you add any stock from the elaborate list and run a real-time comparison on the stocks. Here you will get all the parameters like all the financial comparison, Growth comparison for a 5 and 10 year period, Safety Ratios like Debt to Equity Ratio and Current Ratio, all in a graphical format, and some more comparison fields like Net Profit Margin, Valuation comparison, etc.
Till now, we have looked at all the major features which the platform provides, but not all of them are available for free. Let's look at the pricing model of the platform and find out how much do you have to pay in order to access the complete features available on the platform.
The platform provides basically two different price models. One is the Free Plan and the other is the Premium Membership Plan.
With the Free plan, you don’t get access to important and useful features. You can only access the Price alerts and the Quarterly results in the free pan.
On the other hand, you will get full access to all the features of the platform if you subscribe to any of the 3 or 12-month memberships. The 3-month membership of Investello costs Rs 1,999, excluding taxes, and will cost Rs 2,358 along with taxes. Similarly, for the 12-month plan, you will have to pay a total of Rs 6,999 without taxes and Rs 8,258 including taxes.
Investello is a good fundamental analysis platform that has some exclusive features when compared to the remaining platforms. The platform is extremely user-friendly and is very easy to use. Beginners can use the platform without any difficulty. The ‘Popular Investing Strategies’ feature is a great feature that sets the platform different from other platforms.
On the other hand, the other features like Screener and Stock Comparing lack some dept to it. There are extremely limited fields in the Screener and the lack of an edit option in screening stocks is a red flag for serious analysts. There are only a handful of Screeners available which makes it not a good choice for advanced-level traders.
Apart from that, the Fundamental Analysis window does not include any option to analyze a stock using custom filters. You can only use the pre-mentioned filters and options to carry your fundamental analysis.
Now coming to the pricing, at Rs 2,258 Investello seems an expensive option for beginners, as similar features are available out there for less than that of Investello. And advanced traders will face flexibility and customizability issues while using the platform.
To sum it up Investello is a good platform, especially for beginners. The easy-to-use layout and simple-to-use tools will provide ease of use if you are a beginner. The accurate charts and graphs of company comparison and the graphical representation of analysis tools are an added benefit.
On the other hand advance, analysts and traders might face multiple issues while using the platform like lack of customization and limited tools to conduct detailed stock analysis. The free version also does not provide much in terms of value hence one has to spend at least Rs 2,258 in order to access other features, which is slightly high when considering the features offered.
The high price also doesn't make it a good proposition for beginners. Hence it is better if you look at other platforms like Screener and TickerTape as an alternative to Investello.
